SKIPTONRENOVATIONS

About us

Two trades who got tired of watching renovations go wrong.

Skipton Renovations is Chris and Mark. Between them they had spent years on other people’s jobs watching the same thing happen: good trades, decent materials, and a customer left holding a schedule nobody had agreed to manage.

So the business was built around that gap rather than around a trade. We organise the whole thing. You get one price, one programme and one number.

Who you’ll deal with

You get one of the owners. Every time.

There is no account manager and no site foreman standing between you and a decision. Whoever surveys your job is on it until it hands over.

A media wall built by Chris

Chris

Renovations & design

Chris ran CJF Property Services before this, a renovation business that ended up best known for its media walls — the kind where the fire sits genuinely flush and you cannot find a cable anywhere in the room.

That work is unforgiving. A media wall is carpentry, electrics, plastering and lighting all landing within a couple of millimetres of each other, and it taught him the thing this business runs on: the finish is decided by how well the trades were sequenced, not by how good any one of them was.

Design, layout, joinery, finish and the client relationship.

Electrical work in progress

Mark

Electrical & compliance

Mark came up through the electrical trade, which turns out to be the most useful background there is for running renovations.

Electrics dictate the order of everything. First fix has to be finished before a plasterer can start; second fix cannot begin until decoration is nearly done. On most jobs the electrician is a subcontractor juggling four other sites and the whole programme bends around their diary. Here that trade is on the inside, which is the single biggest reason our schedules hold.

Electrical installation, certification, programming and safety.

How we work

Four things we don’t bend on.

Renovation has a reputation, and most of it is earned. These are the specific bits we set out to do differently.

Talk to us

We tell you the awkward thing early

If the budget doesn't reach, if the wall can't come out, if we're not the right firm for the job — you hear it at the quote, not in week six. It costs us work occasionally. It's still the right way round.

We finish before we invoice

Staged payments against completed milestones, agreed in writing. You never pay for work that hasn't happened yet.

You get told on Fridays

A call or a message every Friday whether there's news or not. Silence is what makes people anxious on a renovation, so we removed it.

It's still your house

Dust barriers, protected floors, a tidy site every evening and a proper clean at handover. You're living in it, not visiting a building site.

Where we work

Skipton, and everywhere round it.

Skipton, Ilkley, Keighley, Settle, Grassington, Harrogate and across North & West Yorkshire. If you’re near the edge of that and not sure, ring and ask — the answer is usually yes.

Ready when you are

Tell us about the room you've stopped liking.

A call, a message or the form — whichever suits. The survey and the written quote are free, and nothing about them commits you to anything.
